Located via a three-hour sail from neighbouring Astove Atoll, Cosmoledo is known as the Giant Trevally capital of the world.
Consisting of twenty-one small islands and lagoons including Wizard Island, this ultimate fishing playground complete with beautifully appointed eco-pods and facilities provide a fly fishing nirvana with Triggerfish, Sailfish, Bonefish, and Permit also available.
With a variety of outstanding Scuba-diving sites, ocean safari experiences and spa therapies its suited to both anglers and non-anglers looking for the ultimate unique island experience. Including luxury modern camp amenities and outstanding flats fishing, it’s a destination that really has to be seen to be believed.
Cosmoledo has a single Eco-lodge situated on Wizzard Island; where nature meets creative, eco-friendly hospitality. With wonderful attentive crew and staff, the whole week spent on the island works seamlessly with great food, personalised service and of course complemented by the amazing fly fishing to be had.
The lodge consists of eight double/twin en-suite rooms with a central communal dining and entertainment area. The rooms are made up of custom-designed, upcycled beach cottages which have been made from 20ft containers, fitted out beautifully with air conditioning, comfortable beds, storage room for all of your gear and sliding doors opening onto a private deck, complete with tap and freshwater wash-down facility for your rods and reels.
Each cottage can be catered for as a double or twin set up and has all the amenities and modern luxuries one can expect. The rooms are tailored in fresh neutral colours accentuating the island and her ocean, drawing in serenity, outdoor adventure and a sense of becoming one with your surroundings.
The communal dining and entertainment area is a large tent with bare sand floors that are committed to the conservation, preservation and protection of the natural resources of Cosmoledo. The dining and entertainment area is equipped with all the necessary features to make your stay one of comfort-in-style, including areas to relax and socialise with a fully stocked bar.
Nature enthusiasts, divers, anglers, single travellers and couples alike dine together for breakfast lunch and dinner consisting of a full house buffet breakfast and chef-prepared evening meal consisting of Creole and international dishes. They incorporate fresh fish daily, with fruit and vegetables which are farmed in the Alphonse garden.
The lodge is fully equipped with snorkelling and dive gear as well as stand up paddleboards and kayaks that are available for all guests to use. Quiet picnics on secluded beaches, sunset cruises, mesmerising encounters with captivating marine life and experiencing the true essence of an untouched paradise, all in picture-perfect surroundings that will enhance every sensation.
The birding on the twenty-one islands that make up Cosmoldeo is also excellent with all three species of Boobies present, making up the Seychelle’s largest colony. In addition, Terns, Frigate Birds, and Heron can also be found which adds to the appeal for the non-angler.
Cosmoledo enjoys the reputation of being an explosive saltwater flats fishing experience. It’s here you’ll find enormous white sand flats, lagoon edges and channels, all ruled by the incomparable Giant Trevally.
What has become known as the “GT capital of the world” also boasts impressive numbers of other fish, including big Bonefish, Bluefin Trevally, Bohar Snapper, Barracuda, Milkfish, the finicky Indo-Pacific Permit and a host of triggerfish species.
The sheer numbers and variety of fish species have amazed the fly fishing world, with anglers from across the globe sampling the ultimate fishing playground! The hard-white sand, turtle grass or coral flats of Cosmoledo make for easy wading, while in the Bluewater you can target Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin and Dogtooth Tuna.
With five purpose-built Mini-Mahé skiffs, the days are spent fishing on a 2:1 basis with the professional guide team, targeting a variety of water including lagoon flats, inshore reef area, and Bluewater. With a lot of tidal variation, your approach will vary each day to suit the conditions and your target species preferences.

There are numerous international flight options to the capital, Mahe from Australia, Europe, and Asia. Usually, you will have to overnight before the domestic charter flight the following day to Astove Island. A private yacht will then sail you the three-hour journey to Wizard Island and the Cosmoledo Eco Camp.
Luggage allowance on internal flights is a max of 15 kilos.
