With its many different waters, the Jokla River is an excellent destination for fly fishing.
Fly Odyssey can design a trip that allows you to experience some of Europe’s best fishing opportunities for Salmon, Sea-Run Brown/Brown Trout and Arctic Char.
The Jokla River had a new lodge built in 2007 and offers fine views overlooking the Jokla River with snow-capped mountains and Birch woodland backdrop. It is ideally located to access both the main river and its tributaries.
There is a large living room with a fireplace and a tackle storage area.
The lodge is located close to the Kalda River, a tributary of the Jokla. This full-service lodge has six double bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), a living room, a tackle storage room and a fireplace.
WIFI is available in the lodge, but you will need to bring your own laptop or tablet.
The Jokla River system is a combined four-rod fishery involving three rivers in the north-east of Iceland: the Fogruhlidara, the Kalda and the Jokla. The Fogruhlidara is one of Iceland’s most consistent and excellent sea-run Char rivers, while the Kalda offers sight-fishing for Salmon – something which has to be experienced!
While fishing these rivers, the nearby Jokla Estuary also has some of the finest sea-run char fishing in the country, and it is a must to tussle with the Char running on the incoming tide—best in June and early July.
Passport with a minimum of six months validity and photo ID to purchase a fishing licence. No Visa required.
Fly direct to Reykjavik and take an internal sixty-minute flight to Egillstadir where you will be met by a lodge representative and taken on the one-hour drive to the lodge.
All fishing tackle and equipment must be sterilised and you must have a validating certificate.
Let us do the groundwork for you.
