The Turneffe Atoll – part of Belize’s barrier reef – spans a vast area in the Caribbean Sea and includes a variety of islands and lagoons that are home to many species of tropical fish including Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon.
Located on the Atoll, Turneffe Flats is a well-recognised and professional fly fishing lodge that draws anglers from all over the world. With expert guides who have comprehensive knowledge of the fishery, great fishing experiences await. Belize has gained a reputation as the Permit capital of the world, and many guests return year after year to Turneffe Flats to chase this superior species.
Belize’s coral reef has been World Heritage-listed and offers a myriad of adventures for active travellers including diving, snorkelling and boating on the pristine waters. Fly Odyssey Australia can help tailor bespoke packages to this beautiful part of the world.
Turneffe Flats is regarded by many as the top location to stay and after forty years is still setting the standards.
A range of air-conditioned accommodation is available at Turneffe Flats from water-side cabanas to larger residences as well as three-bedroom villas. A well-stocked tackle shop at the resort can cover emergencies and the opportunity to try new equipment.
For non-fishing partners and family, there is also an extensive diving operation with regular well-planned dives together with snorkelling trips available to explore the nearby reefs surrounding the flats. The Atoll Adventure Program is excellent and always enjoyed by guests.
Regarded as one of the finest locations for Bonefish and Permit in the Caribbean. The catch-and-release policy and conservation efforts introduced many years ago by Turneffe Flats ensure that this fishery will thrive for many years to come.
